Saab 9-5 The distinctive 2006 Saab 9-5 Saloon and Estate model range is unleashed in the UK this week with bold styling, competitive pricing, class-leading safety, plus an innovative tri-fuel engine programme; petrol, diesel and E85 bioethanol.

The 2006 Saab 9-5 boasts over 1,350 enhancements over the previous model, with a sporting new design, totally refreshed interior, upgraded chassis, and an enhanced choice of all-turbo engine options. This includes the eco-friendly BioPower variant which reduces fossil CO2 emissions levels by up to 70 per cent compared to its petrol equivalent, whilst boosting power by 30 per cent.

With on-the-road prices ranging from an affordable £21,051 for the high-specification 9-5 2.0t (150 bhp) Linear Saloon, up to £29,536 for the new 260 bhp 9-5 Aero Estate, the 2006 Saab 9-5 range gives more power per pound (£) than any other car in the UK upper-premium new car segment.

The revised 2006 9-5 range follows the established logic of Saab ‘forms’, with Linear, Linear Sport, Vector and Vector Sport models available in both Saloon and versatile Estate body styles. The exhilarating 260 bhp Saab 9-5 Aero remains one of the UK’s best-selling performance saloons, and for 2006 is further enhanced with an extra 10 bhp.

A broad choice of acclaimed turbocharged petrol engines remain for 2006, with a new 150 bhp, Euro 4-compliant 1.9 TiD turbo diesel joining the 9-5 range, priced from just £21,505. Saab’s pioneering E85 bioethanol-powered 180 bhp 9-5 BioPower 2.0t also joins the line-up, costing a frugal £600 more than the regular petrol 9-5 2.0t.
