Saab wins Environment Award in 2007 Fleet World Honours Saab’s strong environmental credentials have yet again been recognised and rewarded, this time in the 2007 Fleet World Honours. The trophy was presented at a special ceremony held at the Royal Automobile Club, Pall Mall on Thursday 17th May.

Commenting on the award, Chairman of Judges George Emmerson said: ‘The UK fleet industry has seen a number of alternative fuel initiatives in recent years, some better than others. What we particularly like about Saab’s BioPower programme is that it offers a practical, long-term solution to a problem that is going to take on increasing significance in the fleet industry.’

Fleet World editor Ken Rogers commented: ‘The environment should be top of everyone’s agenda nowadays. By actively providing and promoting the bio-fuel option with its products, Saab is making a bold move that gives fleets the opportunity of both reducing their carbon footprint and encouraging a move towards the change to sustainable fuel.’

Picking up the award, Saab’s Fleet Development Manager Keith Jones said: “I am delighted to add a Fleet World Honours award to the ever-expanding Saab BioPower trophy cabinet. Saab has underlined its commitment to greener motoring by becoming the first – and only – volume car company in the UK to offer an alternative fuel engine in every single model in its line up. This news is especially welcome now that fleet drivers wishing to go green have received some extra encouragement from the Government in the form of a two per cent company car tax discount for flex-fuel cars that run on bioethanol E85, such as the Saab 9-3 and 9-5 BioPower models.”
