Ray Quinn joins Dirty Dancing West End musical

The producers of the hit West End musical Dirty Dancing have announced that one of the country’s favourite rising stars, Ray Quinn, will join the production as ‘Billy Kostecki’, Johnny Castle’s cousin, for a limited season from 26th July until 27th November 2010.
 
This great role features Ray performing such iconic numbers from the show as ‘Do You Love Me?’ and the classic ‘(I’ve Had) the Time of My Life’. He will perform alongside Canadian artiste, Johnny Wright, direct from the Toronto production, as ‘Johnny Castle’, and Matthew Bourne star Hannah Vassallo as ‘Baby’, who head the brand new West End company from 26th July 2010.
 
Ray Quinn comments, “I’m delighted to have been given this opportunity to join this iconic show. I have watched Dirty Dancing many times and can’t wait to take on this perfect role in such a great show”.
 
Jacobsen Entertainment, the producers of Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage added: “We are so pleased that Ray will be joining us as part of this strong and talented new company, that will take the production into its triumphant fifth year in the West End”.
 
Ray shot to fame in the third series of The X Factor in 2006 where he was runner-up to Leona Lewis. Since appearing on the show, Ray has celebrated a No.1 platinum selling album, ‘Doing it My Way’, and has had his own sell-out tour as well as appearing on The X Factor – Live Tour which consisted of 32 arena shows all over the country.
 
Adored by the nation, Ray Quinn has already experienced a successful career in the entertainment industry. He began his climb to fame on the hugely popular Channel 4 soap Brookside playing Anthony Murray. The star won numerous awards including Best Performance in a Network Soap from the Royal TV Society in 2002 and Best Young Actor from Inside Soap Awards in 2002.  Ray has also made appearances in programmes including Mersey Beats and Doctors.
 
The actor, singer and dancer thrilled audiences further with his winning appearance on ITV’s Dancing on Ice in 2009. More recently, the multi-talented artist has moved to the West End playing lead ‘Danny Zuko’ in Grease and now gets the chance to perform in the hugely successful Dirty Dancing.
 
The hit West End production is now in its fourth year and has been seen by over one million people in the UK, thrilling audiences on a nightly basis. Due to overwhelming demand, the show recently released over 200,000 additional tickets – extending its booking period until April 2011 and taking Dirty Dancing into its astounding fifth year at the Aldwych Theatre.
