Saab 9-5 at Frankfurt Motorshow 2009

9th September 2009 Print
The much anticipated new Saab 9-5 Saloon will be revealed on the Saab stand next Tuesday at this year’s Frankfurt Motorshow.

The Saab 9-5 Saloon signals the start of a new era for the Saab brand. Sleek, sophisticated and unmistakably Saab, it combines head-turning design with advanced technologies and will bring a fresh alternative choice to the premium Saloon segment when sales start later in model year 2010.

The new 9-5’s all-turbo powertrain line-up offers customers the choice of a 1.6-litre 180bhp unit, a 2.0-litre with 220bhp, or a 300bhp 2.8-litre V6 twin-turbo petrol engine, the latter available exclusively in Aero specification with Saab's advanced XWD and 6-speed automatic transmission. The four-cylinder diesel offering comprises a 160bhp, 2.0-litre turbo engine with impressive fuel economy of just 53.3mpg over the combined cycle.

The Frankfurt show, which is open to the public from 17th to the 27th September, will also see the new 9-3X on the stand. The 9-3X was unveiled at the Geneva show in March, and is on sale in the UK now.

Prices and exact UK specifications of the new 9-5 will be announced closer to the on sale date.
