From Manchester to a new place in the country

Adrian and Abi Saunders celebrate their first wedding anniversary this month – but are already thinking of when the kids leave for university. For even though the children are still twinkles in Adrian’s eye, this couple have found the home they hope to live in until they downsize in 25 or 30 years time.
“We’re trying to do one move, rather than a stepping stone move. We are going from a 2 bedroom flat to 5 bedroom house and we would hope to stay there until after the kids go to uni’.”
This seems like a long term plan, but Adrian is sure that in Miller Homes’ Chantrey house design they have found a home that is flexible enough for a lifetime: “We don’t know what will happen in the next 20 years but, with this house, we can rejig around and move rooms. The design and space are really flexible.”
Originally, Abi and Adrian were sure they wanted a period house for their “Escape to the Country” from their Manchester city centre apartment. But seeing Miller Homes’ Birkacre Park near Chorley changed their minds. “It just doesn’t look like a standard new build. The homes are much better spaced and much more appealing to the eye. We were also very impressed with the thoughtful design throughout. Miller Homes have actually thought about the living environment. It is right by the countryside and they have tied it in very well.”
Birkacre Park’s location was also a strong draw for the couple: “It is right by green belt so there’s not going to be any more development. It is next to Yarrow Country Park, farmland and a forest. You can literally walk out the front door and within two minutes you are within open countryside”.
Adrian’s evident knowledge of construction and design comes from his property-based degree and career: “Nina, the Sales Adviser, thought I was a mystery shopper as I asked questions that people don’t normally ask” says the professional deal maker.
Great commuting links were also high on the list. Moving to the country couldn’t make Adrian’s weekly journey to London a problem: “We had to be within 15 minutes of a mainline station”. From Birkacre Park, a quick drive to Preston will get Adrian on the express 2-hour service, whilst the great motorway connections will get Abi to her work.
Adrian and Abi were first to visit the new Miller Homes’ Options Centre, catering for all the North West developments. Here Miller Homes’ customers can select from a vast range of accessories, floor finishes to lights, curtains tiles, kitchens and sanitaryware to personalise their home, ensuring the finishing touches are as perfect as the fundamental design and ready for when they move in. From the great range of options Abi and Adrian have chosen their light fittings and blinds. “It’s all sorted and we would certainly go in there again once moved in and chose more of the Miller options. We asked if we could and they said yeah. It’s brilliant.”
So now Abi and Adrian’s home is being completed. From the development’s design right down to the last details, this property-savvy couple are sure that their move to the country will be their move to a life-long, flexible, dream home.
