Oceans Worldwide

This week sees the launch of the first ever UK holiday brochure dedicated exclusively to the two thirds of the planet that is covered by water – Oceans Worldwide.

Comprising expedition voyages, wildlife journeys, whale and dolphin watching trips and diving holidays, the programme offers 30 itineraries from as close to home as Wales and Scotland and as far afield as the Weddell Sea in the southern ocean of Antarctica.

The programme includes island hopping, sea kayaking, towering icebergs, wrecks, reefs and deserted beaches to relax on. Some itineraries are for small groups, whilst others can be tailor-made for couples or larger groups.

Trips vary in length from the four day whale and dolphin watching break in the Bay of Biscay to the 30 day Emperors & Kings itinerary to Antarctica, following in the footsteps of Ernest Shackleton.

The whale and dolphin watching holidays are run in conjunction with the Whale & Dolphin Conservation Society (WDCS) with a direct contribution being made to the charity from every booking. UK trips include whale and dolphin breaks to the Moray Firth and Mull in Scotland and Pembrokeshire in Wales, whilst options further afield include the Caribbean, Patagonia, Dominica and Canada.

Many of the whale and dolphin trips are accompanied by WDCS specialist researchers, who will provide an insight into the valuable work undertaken by the organisation.

The Oceans Worldwide programme also features a number of expedition cruises and voyages – including one to the North Pole - with accommodation aboard an ice-breaker, which provides a chance to reach locations that would be inaccessible aboard normal vessels.

Prices start at just £265 pp for the short four-day cruise through the Bay of Biscay to Northern Spain to spot basking sharks, bottlenose dolphins and harbour porpoises. The trip also includes a guided walk in Spain to enjoy birds, butterflies and wild flowers.

Other highlights from the programme include:

Classic Antarctica – 11 days exploring the Antarctic Peninsula commencing and ending at Ushuaia, the southernmost town in the world (from £3499 pp)

Around Spitsbergen – 10 days in the remote wilderness of Spitsbergen in the company of kittiwakes, auks, Arctic foxes, beluga whales and polar bears (from £1559 pp).

Dolphin and Whale Watching in the Azores – 10 days exploring the warm waters of the Azores archipelago to spot numerous whale and dolphin species including sperm and pilot whales, and Rissos, bottlenose and striped dolphins (from £1499 pp).

Reefs & Rainforests of Borneo – 11 days island hopping in south east Asia which is home to over 400 species of fish and more than 220 species of mammals (from £4359 pp).

All holidays are based on two people sharing a room.
