Research from blood-pressure-monitoring.org has revealed that spending time in the garden can contribute to making us feel healthier, comfortable and relaxed, and that even looking at nature can result in a fall in blood pressure within five minutes, and can lower stress hormones.

With these health benefits coming from spending time in the garden, what could be better than living in an environment that offers beautiful communal gardens, without any of the upkeep? The Galleries, a stunning converted hospital in Brentwood by City & Country Group offers a magnificent and fully maintained landscaped environment, and as such the development is proving popular with a wide variety of homebuyers.

“There is a massive amount of evidence about the beneficial effects of a garden, ever since the court physicians in the time of the pharaohs used to prescribe walks around the gardens for the royal household.” says Helen Moore, Residential Managing Director, City & Country Group.

She continues: “Getting out into the gardens offers the calming effect of nature, fresh air and vitamin D from the sun, all of which are extremely good for us, but these days people tend to have such busy lifestyles that they don’t have the time or inclination to spend weekends doing the gardening. As such, living environments with communal gardens like the one at The Galleries are becoming more and more popular.

“It is too common these days for housebuilders to make a great job of kitchens and bathrooms but overlook the gardens, not even laying down turf. This is a real shame as in addition to the health benefits, landscaping can also add up to 20% to the value of a home.”

The Galleries, is an award winning development of stylish and unique one, two and three bedroom apartments and mews houses set in historic listed buildings with stunning architectural features.

At The Galleries City & Country Group discovered the original plans for the hospital, including detailed drawings showing formal gardens and ‘airing courtyards’ designed for the patients. At the time the proposals were never realised, but City & Country Group wanted them to be included for the benefit of the residents at The Galleries. The beautifully landscaped and tranquil courtyard gardens now provide a striking and relaxing area for the residents.

A wide range of properties are available at The Galleries. Each has had a bespoke kitchen designed and includes a range of integrated stainless steel appliances and the bathrooms incorporate white sanitaryware and chrome fittings. Throughout the properties, top quality flooring has been provided including 100% wool carpets, ceramic floor tiles and either engineered oak boards or restored original floorboards.

The Galleries is located in Warley, on the fringe of the popular commuter town of Brentwood, where there is a variety of shops, restaurants and cafés. Close by, Brentwood Railway Station has direct services into London Liverpool Street, which take approximately 35 minutes.

Prices for current availability at The Galleries start from £250,000 for a two bedroom apartment to £350,000 for a one bedroom duplex apartment and £499,950 for a two bedroom duplex apartment. The on-site sales suite is open daily between 10am and 5pm.
