Caterham to launch Driver of the Year trophy

24th August 2009 Print
Caterham One of the best loved names in British motor sport has launched a Driver of the Year trophy to recognise the driver who best combines competitive racing and safe driving.

Caterham Motorsport will present the trophy for the 2010 R300 and R400 Series in conjunction with leading health and safety specialists Employment Law Advisory Services.

The famous Caterham Seven lightweight sports car was developed by Colin Chapman more than 50 years ago and was sold in 20 countries.

The R300 is the latest 515kg interpretation of Chapman’s famous ‘lightweight minimalist’ philosophy, and beautifully balances power and chassis to perfection, delivering an impressive 339bhp-per-tonne.

Today the name and its unique British heritage live on in the form of the Caterham Motorsport championships.

Simon Lambert, Caterham’s Motorsport Manager, said: “Together with our sponsor Employment Law Advisory Services, we are delighted to be able to award this special trophy to the driver who best demonstrates that close competition and safe driving can go hand-in-hand.

“The drivers themselves will make the nominations and then the Caterham Motorsport team will choose the recipient of this most worthy trophy.”

Manchester-based Employment Law Advisory Services provides Caterham Motorsport with support across health and safety matters.

Annabel Dawkins, ELAS’s Head of Marketing, said: “ELAS is thrilled to be associated with such a famous name in motorsport and sponsoring the Driver of the Year trophy allows us to highlight that complying with health and safety regulations does not mean you can’t have fun!”

ELAS provides health and safety and employment law services to hundreds of businesses and organisations across the UK.
