Diana (63) and Richard (67) Green are enjoying a busy and active retirement at Willow Grange, David Wilson Retirement Homes’ new development in the historic town of Wantage in Oxfordshire.

“Willow Grange is designed for the over 55s and it’s perfect for semi-retired and retired people who want to live life to the full,” said Diana. “Wantage is a nice little market town and everything is within walking distance, including shops and restaurants. Richard and I are always out and about and meeting up with friends.

“We decided to relocate from Wiltshire to be closer to our children, who live in Newbury, Didcot and London,” she continued. “We regularly babysit for our grandsons in Didcot and London, so we wanted to live within easy commuting distance.

“Wantage is close to Didcot, where trains run to London every 40 minutes. Also, because the security at Willow Grange is superb, we feel safe about going away to visit our family at regular intervals.”

Diana and Richard downsized from a house in Pewsey to a two-bedroom apartment with balcony at Willow Grange.

“The homes here are really lovely and spacious, and we don’t have to worry about maintenance or gardening, so we can make the most of our free time doing the things we want to do,” she continued.

“We took advantage of David Wilson’s part exchange deal. They bought our house in Pewsey, so we didn’t have to worry about estate agents’ fees or finding a buyer. We were in a hurry to move and were settled in our new home within six weeks, which was excellent,” Diana concluded.

David Wilson aims to provide people over the age of 55 with retirement homes that offer independence, security and convenience. Standard on-site facilities include a fully fitted kitchen, video door entry system and 24-hour emergency call system.

There is also a residents’ lounge for social activities and a guest suite for visitors. Buyers don’t have to worry about the upkeep of their property, as the house manager looks after the maintenance of the buildings and the communal landscaped grounds.

For residents who enjoy socialising, the historic town of Wantage, the birthplace of King Alfred the Great, is a hive of activity. Annual events include a summer festival of music and arts and a Dickensian evening just before the Christmas holidays.

Current availability at Willow Grange includes a selection of stunning one bedroom apartments priced from £139,950.
