A new chapter in Fleetwood's regeneration story

Lancashire residents who want to be part of the regeneration of Fleetwood are being urged to register their interest in new Redrow homes.

It’s an exciting time for the seaside town, which is undergoing a real transformation. A £100m scheme to upgrade the tramway linking Fleetwood and Blackpool is underway and is expected to be complete by 2012. There are also plans for a £1.6m development to change the face of Fleetwood’s seafront.

Meanwhile, Redrow is doing its bit to create desirable family homes.

Christine Aitken, sales director for Redrow Homes (Lancashire), said: “The regeneration of Fleetwood will help breathe new life into the town and Redrow is keen to play its part by building new family homes on what was a brownfield site.”

Redrow has already invested £5 million in reclamation works to get the 30-acre site, purchased from Association British Ports (ABP), ready for housing.

Work to construct the entrance roads to the development, known as Harbour Village, began in March.

“Fleetwood is the epitome of the traditional English seaside location and is rightly proud of its heritage. With that in mind, it’s an ideal place to introduce designs from our New Heritage Collection of homes that combine the character of older properties with stylish interiors suite for modern living,” Christine said.

The phased development of Harbour Village will see the construction of a range of houses to suit different buyers’ needs and budgets.

The first phase will offer a mix of two, three, and four-bedroom homes. In the later phases houses will be available facing the marina and some magnificent plots with views out over the estuary.

“Harbour Village really is a hidden oasis and even existing Fleetwood residents may be surprised at the tranquillity and beauty of the area,” Christine commented.

“The site is bounded on the east by the Wyre Estuary, which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest - noted for its population of over wintering birds - and is also bounded to the south by the Fleetwood Marsh Nature Reserve, which is a Biological Heritage Site.”

Redrow will also be creating a public access road to the estuary, with visitor parking and a play area, cycle and bridle paths and a new bus service for the site.
