‘Get on’ for a free ride in National Motorcycle Week 2010

The Motorcycle Industry is urging biking enthusiasts to spread the word that ‘Life is Better of Two Wheels’ as part of its annual National Motorcycle Week, which takes place from 18th – 24th July.
The campaign is creating the opportunity for non-riders with a desire to get their first taste of freedom and ‘Get On’ on two wheels’, joining the 11,000 people who have already booked their first experience using the free service being offered by over 150 training schools all around the country through geton.co.uk.
The campaign will allow non-riders the opportunity to get their first taste of life on two by signing up for Get On scheme’s free one hour taster session. 11,000 people have already signed up for the free experience, and during National Motorcycle Week the public will be able to register at geton.co.uk to receive their free session from one of 150 training schools throughout the country.
National Motorcycle Week celebrates all that’s fun about riding, including freedom, friends, thrills and adventure. Riding a bike or scooter to work also offers a practical, convenient and flexible alternative for commuters. It takes away the hassle of relying on infrequent public transport and sitting in traffic queues in busy urban areas, while also often being cheaper and greener.
During the week local events will take place with support from motorcycle dealers, the police and Bikesafe, rider’s groups, social networks and individuals. New and existing bikers will also be able to win amazing prizes ranging from iPads and digital cameras to biking holidays and full sets of kit as part of the national Get On competition simply by visiting participating dealers throughout the country.
To celebrate National Motorcycle Week all bikers are being encouraged to introduce a friend to the great benefits of biking. Bikers can find their nearest participating dealer at geton.co.uk and for every non-biking friend they introduce they will receive an entry into the competition.
All non-bikers visiting one of the participating dealers will be able to sign up for a free, no strings attached, taster session from a fully qualified instructor as well as being entered into the draw to win iPads, iPod nanos and digital cameras.
This annual event is the opportunity for everyone interested in two-wheels to organise their own events and spread the word to friends, family and work colleagues - get them involved too.
A free information guide is available online at mcia.co.uk and as soon as you have planned your event you can promote it to the bike community on the geton.co.uk website where you can also sign up for your free taster session.
Steve Kenward, MCI’s CEO said, “We have seen more than 8,000 people enjoy a free one- hour riding experience with our qualified instructors across the country.
“National Motorcycle Week is the perfect time to join in the celebrations and either run your own event or if you’ve never ridden before or just fancy a refresher sign up on the website and add to the growing numbers of people who have signed on, kitted out and ridden off”
