A third of Brits not having fun in bed

24th June 2010 Print

Mates Skyn condoms today revealed that despite their traditional, reserved stereotype, British people rank as some of Europe’s most sexually uninhibited.

However over a third of people in the UK are still not enjoying themselves as much as they could in bed, mainly due to the quality and feel of the condom. In fact, whilst 77% of Brits are still enjoying the real thing, 15% of UK respondents say they are having more cyber sex than natural sex.

The research heralds a battlecry for sex the way it’s meant to feel, with the launch of Mates’ new online game ‘Skyn It To Win It’ at matesskyn.co.uk. After a gruelling day at the office, participants can make their way home for a night of passion. This won’t be any normal sex, but Skyn-on-skin sex. The online game takes participants through the seductive city of Randyville. Clocking off, you’ll battle saucy cleaners with naughty trolleys and maintenance men with hard, shiny helmets. Traverse gridlocked traffic, with YMCA–style traffic police and rollerblading hotties. Encounter night-time shoppers with bulging bags of lingerie and promotional boys dripping in chocolate body paint. Then wrestle your way into the nightclub, where you’ll be dodging disco divas and brawling with break-dancing boys, before finally meeting up with your partner and getting it on back at your love nest!

Participants work their way through various levels with the chance to win a free Mates Skyn condom sample. There is also the opportunity to become a Skyn tester - receive free samples and be the first to know about everything Skyn, including new products, events and much more. There is even a ‘Skyn It To Win It’ leader-board so you can track your status and share your scores on Facebook and Twitter.

“‘Skyn It To Win It’ is a fun way for consumers to experience our revolutionary new condom design which has been clinically proven to be as close to natural sex as possible, while at the same time minimising the risk of unwanted pregnancy or STI - keeping us focussed on that all-important pleasure principle,” said Marta Toth, Communications Manager, Ansell Consumer Healthcare.

The Mates Skyn survey also found that:

• 62% of respondents across France, Hungary, Italy, Poland and the UK would use a condom more often if it felt closer to natural sex
• 8% of respondents say they have surfed the Internet whilst having sex.
• Social Networking Sites have made an impact on people’s sex lives and 4% of respondents say they have checked their Facebook page whilst having sex.

Mates Skyn condoms are designed to revolutionise sex with a condom. It’s the next best thing to wearing nothing with a new, non-latex material called Sensoprene. It is a softer, stretchier condom that more easily adapts to the form of its wearer for a more ergonomic fit, whilst still providing the strength of premium latex.
