Luxury cruise sales on the rise

A raft of new luxury cruise ship launches is spurring on sales at the top-end of the market, according to specialist travel agent White Star Cruises.

New vessels for lines including Seabourn, Silversea Cruises and Oceania Cruises, mean that the luxury cruise passenger has never had more choice.

White Star Cruises general manager Scott Anderson said: “This is an incredibly exciting year for the luxury cruise industry with a whole host of new ships being launched.

“Seabourn Sojourn was launched just this month in London by the legendary British model, Twiggy. The ship has new features such as the innovative Seabourn Square, a wonderful spa area, spacious suites and exquisite food.

“Silver Spirit, the newest ship from all-inclusive all-suite line Silversea Cruises, launched at the end of last year, but has already made 2010 her own with her wonderful destinations and itineraries and is quickly becoming a favourite amongst die-hard Silversea guests,” said Anderson.

Others include Oceania Cruises’ Marina which makes its debut in January 2011, with a Lalique staircase and suites designed by Ralph Lauren this will be a very stylish ship.

Anderson added: “Oceania really is raising the bar – currently the line is renowned amongst the cruise crowd has having some of the best cuisine at sea, and Marina will be even better with a choice of six open sitting restaurants.”

Cunard's Queen Elizabeth will begin its inaugural season in October. “The first voyage sold out in less than 30 minutes, proving that the Cunard heritage still attracts huge interest,” said Anderson. “This ship is already proving popular with the traditional Cunard guest – as well as new-to-cruise passengers too.”

He added: “Luxury river cruising is gaining popularity for the European rivers, and our exclusive Oberoi packages on the Nile are getting a lot of interest for that once in a lifetime holiday, complete with private tours and excursions.”
