England might be out of the World Cup, but it’s no great disappointment to Acacia Africa, the tour operator seeing a surge in bookings since the “Three Lions'” defeat.

Heath Ashcroft, Marketing Director at Acacia Africa, comments: “The FIFA tournament certainly made South Africa front page news and we’re sure that has played a major part in the heightened level of interest – not just in the Rainbow Nation, but also in neighbouring countries.”

“However, while bookings rose pre-event, it’s only now that we’re seeing a rush of sales.”

According to the tour operator, it’s not just the England team that are in need of a holiday, Manager Fabio Capello fleeing the country almost immediately after his return to the UK.

Heath Ashcroft, comments:” It’s as though we’ve gone from FIFA fever to get-away gloom in the space of just a few days, adventurers across the UK desperate to put the team’s disastrous performance and horrifying 4:1 defeat behind them.”

When it comes to holidays, the safari experience offers a real break from reality, Acacia Africa citing this as one of the main reasons for the current growth in late bookings.

Heath Ashcroft comments: “No other holiday can claim to take you to another world and game driving on the open African savannah will undoubtedly help to ease the anxieties of any hard-core football fan.”

Unlike the England team, the Africa specialist will not leave adventurers feeling disappointed, Acacia Africa guaranteeing over 500 overland and small group safari departures from now until the end of 2010.

(Save £109pp) The 19-day South West Safari ends in Cape Town with a township tour. Other overland highs include game viewing in the Chobe and Etosha national parks. £436pp + local payment from £288pp (no single supplement). Departing 21 July.

Overland departures, small group safaris and adventures include all camping/accommodation, most meals and services of a local guide &/or driver. Excludes return flight.
