Former West Bromwich Albion, Coventry City, Aston Villa, Wolves and England centre forward Cyrille Regis was guest of honour at the recent Warndon Villages Football Club World Cup Day and Presentation event at Little Perdiswell in Worcester.

More than 100 young players from the club’s many teams took part in the event which was excellently supported by parents and grandparents and well organised by the club. Orbit HomeBuy Agents, sponsors of one of the Warndon Villages teams – the Under 8s Jaguars side – also attended the event. They provided information promoting the HomeBuy products to interested parents – and handed out giveaways which went down really well – especially the hand held windmills that most of the children were rushing around with by the end of the day!

Cyrille Regis took an interest in what Orbit was doing and happily posed for a photograph with April Tatlow and Samantha Lewis from Orbit and young Julius Appel, one of the players from the Under 8 Jaguars team, sporting his shirt with the Orbit logo on it.

”It was an interesting day with huge enthusiasm from the young football players – despite the heat!” said April. “We enjoyed the regular half hour ‘hose down’ that the youngsters got to keep them cool. We made some very useful contacts and were able to raise awareness of what Obit HomeBuy Agents does and how we can help people to get their feet on the home ownership ladder. It was a really fruitful day!”

A range of HomeBuy products are available to help people find an affordable home. For those wishing to buy their own home, there is the popular New Build HomeBuy scheme under which you would generally take out a mortgage for a share of the property and rent the remaining share at a discounted rate. You can then purchase additional shares in the future until you own the property outright.

Alternatively, many developers are now offering brand new homes for purchase through the HomeBuy Direct scheme. Those eligible can take advantage of equity loans provided jointly by the developer and the government of up to 30 per cent of the property value, with no interest to be paid on the loan for the first five years.

If you prefer to rent, the Rent to HomeBuy and Intermediate Rent schemes allows you to rent your home at a discounted rate while saving up for a deposit to purchase at a later date and both of these are helping many people find an affordable home.

HomeBuy products are available to first time buyers, key workers, social housing tenants, and those on a local authority waiting list – as long as their annual household income is less than £60,000.
