The Ford Focus has been declared the top green used car in this year's What Car? Green Awards.

Ford Focus has already enjoyed huge success as an award-winning used car. The Focus 1.6 TDCi model, overall winner in 2008 – the inaugural year for the awards, was honoured for the second time by the What Car? Green Awards.

What Car? voted Ford Focus best used small family car in 2007, 2008 and 2009 due to its good all-round performance, with What Car? judges commenting on its driveability, practicality and sensible running costs.  Now What Car? has made the Ford Focus 1.6 TDCi Style their used green car of the year.

Joe Greenwell, chairman, Ford of Britain said: "The 64mpg Ford Focus 1.6 diesel was What Car?'s green car of the year two years ago and to be a winner again in 2010 is testimony to the car continuing to be a leader in its class for fuel economy and CO2 emissions".

Ford Focus 1.6 TDCi Style has sold 16,300 units since launch representing 30 per cent of total Focus Style sales.  With 2008 "08" registered vehicles selling from around £8,475 at 24,000 miles, Focus continues to prove popular with retail customers.

What Car? editor-in-chief Steve Fowler said: "The Ford Focus is good to drive, reliable and environmentally friendly, and it proves green used cars don’t have to cost the earth."

The What Car? Best used Green Car award 2010 went to the 2008 "08" registered five-door Ford Focus 1.6 TDCi Style.
