Tall ship sailing specialist Star Clippers has announced a special, one-off 3 night mini-cruise departing September 28, 2010, that includes viewing of the glamorous and spectacular yacht regatta, Les Voiles de St Tropez, from the decks of the 170-passenger square rigger, Star Flyer.

Les Voiles de St Tropez is one of the principal events in the classic yachting race calendar, bringing together magnificent racing boats with world-class crews from all over the world. The regatta runs this year from September 25 to October 3 and Star Flyer will be in the bay of St Tropez on October 1, perfectly situated for guests to view the racing and admire the yachts from the heart of the action. The town, too, takes on the air of a festival for the duration of the regatta, with unrivalled opportunities for boat-spotting and people-watching.

Star Clippers has combined the three-night sailing with a night at the boutique, four-star Columbus Hotel in Monte Carlo, departing September 28, 2010. The package, superb value at £899 per person, includes scheduled flights from London to Nice, or rail travel by Eurostar; helicopter transfer to Monaco (for flight passengers) or private car (for rail passengers); one night’s bed and breakfast at the Columbus Hotel; three nights’ full board accommodation on Star Flyer; and port taxes.

The ship sails from Monte Carlo on September 29, calling at L’Ile Rousse in Corsica and St Tropez (a morning on the beach and the afternoon watching the racing in the bay), returning to Cannes on October 2. To book, visit starclippers.co.uk.

Star Clippers operates three of the world’s largest and tallest sailing vessels. Visiting ports often untouched by larger cruise ships and offering passengers the activities, amenities and atmosphere of a private yacht, Star Clippers is recognised as one of the premier speciality cruise lines.

Passengers can enjoy the romance of sailing on board a true tall ship in a relaxed atmosphere with high standards of service provided by an attentive crew. All three ships have expansive teak decks, swimming pools, informal dining, a convivial Tropical Bar on deck and a comfortable piano bar and are large enough to offer first class accommodation and dining, but small enough to call into intimate ports, untouched by large cruise ships.

The two smaller ships, Star Flyer and Star Clipper, take 170 passengers each, with a crew of 70, while Royal Clipper carries 228 with a crew of 106.
