Taylor Wimpey sponsors a ‘wheelie’ good cause

Gosport BMX Club is getting a ‘wheelie’ good boost from Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties in time for the 2010 National BMX Series event taking place this weekend.

The leading house builder, which has just launched its Alver Village development in Gosport, has donated £250, along with a £50 voucher prize, to the cycle club which will be hosting rounds nine and 10 of the competition from Friday 6th to Sunday 8th August.

Darren Fells, organiser of the Gosport BMX Club, said: “We are very grateful for Taylor Wimpey’s kind sponsorship of the BMX Series event which promises to be a great day out for the whole family. The club is run entirely by volunteers and any help we receive is always welcome.

“Without events such as this, riders would not be able to progress in the sport. It looks set to be an action-packed weekend and we hope it will produce some new BMX champions.”

Last year Taylor Wimpey sponsored 16-year-old BMX Champion Ayesha Mclelland £500 to help her attend the BMX National competitions. Ayesha, from Rowner, near Gosport, has been selected for the Olympic Talent Team and is expected to enter the 2016 Olympics.

It’s great to sponsor such an exciting event and particularly rewarding when we can really help people like Ayesha achieve fantastic success.”
