Best bundle deals for the start of the football season

9th August 2010 Print

With the new football season kicking off, Mike Wilson, manager of mobiles and broadband at moneysupermarket.com, comments on the best bundle deals: "Hardcore football fans will still be reeling from the news that Sky Sports News will only be available if you have a subscription with Sky or Virgin Media. Terrestrial viewers will still have access to a number of International, Championship, Champions League and FA Cups games, but no live Premiership football - that'll just be the reserve of Sky Sports 1 and 2, and ESPN.

"For those who are considering taking out a bundled TV package to watch Premier League football, the three key players are BT, Virgin Media and Sky. Bundling your TV, landline and broadband with one provider could save hundreds of pounds a year. For example, the best deal for a ‘light' user from Sky stands at £18 a month for 12 months, although this doesn't include the sports package.  I advise customers to really look at what they need from a bundle; it could make sense to bundle your phone and broadband, and then look for the best TV package for your needs separately if you want access to all the sports.  For example, if you have Sky Sports, it's only £1 a month to upgrade to the ‘News' package to include Sky Sports News."
