Acer and the future of TV

11th September 2010 Print

TV is not the same any more. It is no longer a dumb electrical appliance that it is switched on at all times to keep us company, but has become a technological instrument with a key role in home communication.

Multimedia content to be shared and enjoyed, content designed for entertainment adding up to those we create. As a result, TV takes on a new meaning every day, becoming the key instrument in the creation of a true home network.

Acer clear.fi solution focuses on the television as the centre of a unique user experience. Acer clear.fi is more than just hardware and software. It is a new entertainment experience that enables real-time sharing and reproduction of different formats of multimedia contents on devices with different platforms. Clear.fi is the home network that integrates innovative technologies and devices intelligently to make digital contents readily available anywhere in your home.

Acer has always been on the forefront and has always made of innovation its point of strength, it is clear the TV market is critical for its consolidation strategy.

The year 2010 represents a turning point for the Acer TV division: a fresh start marked by a strong commitment to further develop this rapidly growing sector, also thanks to the introduction of the Digital Terrestrial Television. The number of TVs in homes is growing rapidly as they become necessary not only in the living room, but in other rooms of the home as well, where small-mid-sized televisions are preferred.

“The TV market promises great growth potential in that the TV will shed its static functions and be transformed into an interactive and technologically advanced device capable of managing and transmitting IT contents, like the Internet, games, and multimedia formats”, explains Giuseppe Finocchiaro, Acer EMEA Director Consumer Business. “In fact, we are witnessing a progressive and quick convergence of the electronic consumer towards IT. Technology is playing a groundbreaking role in the market and will soon change the existing scenario. Acer is in the right position, given that these contents are already an inherent part of our IT company DNA.”

This convergence is a unique opportunity to create innovation. Today we are already seeing the development of new ICT (Information Communication Technology) Industries that offer products and services deriving from the current convergence of the 4 Cs – Computer, Communication, Consumer Electronics, and Contents.

This concept further clarifies the fact that Acer’s mission “to tear down barriers between people and technology” has today become a reality, thanks to the commitment and the capacity to provide solutions capable of translating advanced technological instruments into solutions that are easy enough for anyone to use.

Over the next three years, Acer is concentrating on two objectives: to position itself as a player consumers will turn to when purchasing a new generation television, and to become one of the top five producers.

In order to reach these objectives, Acer has invested huge amounts of resources in research and development to present a complete range of televisions – subdivided into four product lines – that above all boasts what is perceived as the true driving factor in choosing a TV: design.

With this in mind, Acer is at IFA with a unique and surprising offer that will not disappoint those seeking a different sort of device that will amaze you with the clarity of its images, the latest technologies available, and its undoubtedly striking design.

The range of Acer televisions is divided into:
