Coastal homes have made a splash in Lancashire, where potential purchasers queued to find out more.

Harbour Village, in Fleetwood, is Redrow’s latest development to be launched in Lancashire, offering something for almost every type of buyer.

“People were waiting to get in when we first opened the sales office,” said Redrow area sales manager Lesley Myers. “More than 70 people visited over the opening weekend. A number of potential purchasers have asked about the HomeBuy Direct scheme and we are dealing with several enquiries for Mastermove from those with an existing property still to sell. We’re very pleased with the interest in Harbour Village and have taken eight sales in the first few weeks.”

The new homes being built by Redrow are just one of the major changes helping to transform Fleetwood.

A £100m scheme to upgrade the tramway linking Fleetwood and Blackpool is underway and is expected to be complete by 2012. There are also plans for a £1.6m development to change the face of Fleetwood’s seafront, plus revised plans to redevelop the former pier site have now been submitted by Simmo Developments.

“It’s an exciting time for Fleetwood and we at Redrow are proud to be playing our part by providing quality built homes,” Lesley added.

“We had a sizeable database of interested parties before the sales launch so knew that there was a demand for new homes in the area and our New Heritage Collection properties certainly appear to be hitting the spot.”

Close to Freeport Fleetwood, with 50 famous name stores, and a nearby supermarket, residents’ daily needs will be well catered for. But while those already living in the town will be aware of the retail facilities, they may not realise that the location of Harbour Village also enjoys a sense of tranquillity.

“Harbour Village really is a hidden oasis, overlooking two sites of special interest. It is bounded on the east by the Wyre Estuary – noted for its population of over wintering birds – and to the south by the Fleetwood Marsh Nature Reserve, which is a Biological Heritage Site,” Lesley said.

“As well as local families looking to trade up and first time buyers interested in the Government-backed HomeBuy Direct scheme, we are also dealing with a number of downsizers looking to move to a modern, more manageable home in a coastal location.”

A choice of two, three and four-bedroom homes are now on sale at Harbour Village, including designs from Redrow’s New Heritage Collection of traditional looking properties with the latest statement-making interiors styled for modern living.

Prices start from just £119,995 for a two-bedroom home.

Later phases will include properties facing the marina, including some magnificent plots with views out over the estuary.

The new marketing suite is now open Thursday to Monday from 10am to 5.30pm and Redrow is gearing up for the launch of fully furnished show homes in January.
