Stars get On Track with Seat

On Track with SEAT is a new music series that takes you into the heart of music making, seeing the creative process from the inside as artists record in the famous Metropolis Studios in London.

The 12-part series on Channel 4 covers the excitement and pressure of nailing a performance in one take, creating a unique live recording.

Each programme focuses on different musicians as they go through the recording process with some of their best-loved and biggest songs.

Additionally, all artists will also perform a cover version of a song that has been a major inspiration to, or influence on, them.

The series features some of the most respected contemporary artists such as Foals, Ellie Goulding, The Drums, Tinchy Stryder, Amy Macdonald, Bombay Bicycle Club and Robyn.

With each artist then producing their own sleeve artwork, the programme shows the acetate heading to the pressing plant and, in just three hours, each participant receiving a truly original collector’s item ‘hot off the press’. 

10,000 copies of one track, selected by the artist, will be made available as a free download from club-SEAT.co.uk

On the experience Ellie Goulding, whose set is the first to air on Wednesday, said: ‘You’ve only got one chance and it’s there forever.  It’s in the moment so I think it will be good.’

Amy Macdonald added: ‘I’ve never recorded directly to vinyl before but it’s really cool that you have one take and it’s exciting for me because I’m extremely impatient.

‘It’s cool to forget about modern technology and go back to how artists used to do it.’

The Spanish car maker has partnered with Universal Music to bring the show concept to life.
