Buying new could save you money in Downton

Research by a leading housebuilder suggests it can cost around £30,000 to bring an older property up to the same standard as a new home.

The award-winning housebuilder has calculated the significant sum by totalling the cost of installing equivalent standard kitchens, appliances and bathrooms as well as a new energy efficient heating system, replacement windows and a host of other features, which come as standard in a new home.

So families looking to swap their old draughty house for a luxury new home, which is energy efficient and easy to maintain, need look no further than Redrow Homes’ exclusive development in Downton, The Glades.

Vanessa Randall-Short, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (South West), said: “By purchasing a new home instead of an older second hand property, buyers could save themselves a small fortune in DIY costs not to mention time and energy.

“Buying a new home from us means that everything is brand new; you can start living straight away and don’t need to spend money or time redecorating and repairing your home.

“With this in mind our homes at The Glades, are an ideal solution for those who want an easy life. Like all new homes they are also protected by the National House Building Council (NHBC) 10-year Buildmark Warranty.”

As well as reaping all of these benefits, buying new lets you take advantage of developer incentives such as help to sell your existing property or part-exchange, which are not available when purchasing a second hand home.

Part exchange means Redrow will effectively act as a cash buyer for your current house. There are no estate agent’s fees to pay and no risk of getting stuck in a housing chain. Alternatively you could opt to let Redrow take care of selling your property for you through Mastermove. They will arrange free valuations and agree a selling price with you, market your home with trusted local agents and even pay all your fees.

You can also access a helpful network of financial and legal advisors, making for a much smoother move.

Formerly part of the Longford Estate, the new homes at The Glades are well placed for an easy drive to the towns and cities of Salisbury (in around seven minutes), Southampton, Bournemouth and Poole, yet offer close proximity to the New Forest National Park. And for those who regularly travel to the capital, train journey times of under an hour and a half from Salisbury to London will be an added attraction.

A selection of luxury three, four and five-bedroom properties is available currently priced from £323,995 to £499,995.

The homes also benefit from a number of eco-features, which help them achieve level three of the Code for Sustainable Homes and potentially reduce residents’ energy bills even further; including solar panels, low-energy light fittings and water butts.

For more information visit the marketing suite and show home off Wick Lane, Downton, open daily from 10am to 5.30pm.
