Stamford Homes resident Tony Conte raises a careful glass to toast his prize in a recent wine-tasting competition – a bottle of wine worth over £100!

Peterborough-based new homes builder Stamford Homes staged a special wine tasting event for residents of, and visitors to, its prestigious Whittington’s Meadow development near Nassington this summer to celebrate the opening of a stunning new viewhome.

Those taking part in the taste experience were invited to describe and give their thoughts on an unusual bottle of wine – with the closest person to the professional taster’s opinion receiving their own bottle of wine worth over £100 provided by The Winesmith, based in the village of Nassington.

Tony, who lives at the development with his wife Jenny, was the lucky winner.

He said: “I can’t take all the credit as it was a combined effort with help from my wife. We both managed to narrow down most of the questions, with a couple of guesses of course!

“Luckily for me, I do like Spanish wine and mostly from one particular region. Perhaps all those summer school holidays spent helping my father tread grapes in Italy paid off? We’ll certainly be saving this bottle for a special occasion whilst sitting in our garden, admiring the amazing views over the Nassington countryside!”

Stamford Homes regional sales and marketing director Peter Bond said: “We had real fun at the wine tasting event, which seemed to fit very nicely with the opening of our viewhome at Whittington’s Meadow.

“Tony obviously knows his stuff when it comes to wine tasting, and we were delighted to hand over his very special prize to him.”
