New Holland tackles machinery theft head on

26th October 2010 Print

TRACKER, the leader in stolen vehicle recovery and vehicle tracking solutions, has signed a major new deal with New Holland, a world-leading manufacturer of agriculture and construction equipment. Under the new agreement the New Holland UK dealer network will be offering TRACKER stolen vehicle recovery and vehicle tracking products to its customers to provide real protection from the devastating effects that loss of vital agricultural and plant equipment can bring.

New Holland operates a network of more than 100 dealers in the UK alone, offering products and equipment including industry-leading tractors and combine harvesters to excavators.  Stephen Doran, Managing Director, TRACKER, comments, “This is a significant win for TRACKER, as New Holland is a global name in the provision of agricultural and construction equipment. We understand the needs of these sectors and know security is a major concern, after all the loss of a tractor or combine can have a devastating impact on a business.   Crucially, the fitting of a TRACKER system can mean that stolen tractors, combines or any other form of agricultural equipment are recovered and returned within a matter of days.”

Every year, in the UK alone, an estimated £50 million to £70 million worth of plant and agricultural machinery is stolen but only five percent is ever recovered.  Rural crime has become so significant that the BBC Country File team has begun an investigation into the issue.   Between June 2009 and July 2010 TRACKER recovered over £3.5 million worth of stolen plant and farming equipment in the UK.  Staggeringly, 48 per cent of the total plant items it recovered were worth £10,000 or less.

“In partnership with TRACKER, we are enabling our dealers to deliver a solution that combines the latest technology to provide a critical defence against vehicle and machinery theft, as well as a new level of usage and performance information, in order to get the best out of farming and agriculture equipment,” says Alan Samson, New Holland Parts Marketing Manager. “TRACKER has an unrivalled reputation as the leader in security and tracking technology, which means we can offer the very best protection against theft.”

Vehicle Security with TRACKER Monitor

TRACKER Monitor utilises TRACKER’s market-leading stolen vehicle recovery system, offering an unrivalled level of protection against theft, as well as significantly increasing the chances of recovery.  The system is Thatcham-approved, offering added quality assurance and the possibility of an insurance discount.

Fleet Tracking with TRACKER Plant

TRACKER Plant is based on a combination of Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and Global Systems for Mobile Communication (GSM), but with the added benefit of TRACKER’s successful and proven Very High Frequency (VHF) radio technology. Fundamentally, this is brought together in a robust and waterproof unit, proven to withstand the harshest usage. The system reports real time information about the usage of plant and agricultural equipment, such as engine running hours, and allows owners to set a location radius within which the plant can move freely, alerting them if it is moved outside of this location, known as Geofencing. The system will even inform owners when servicing of equipment is due. TRACKER Plant summary reports are emailed weekly containing clear and concise plant data, both on an individual item plant or as a group, for easy monitoring.
