Husqvarna at Motorcycle Live

Husqvarna Motorcycles will be at Motorcycle Live for the first time under the stewardship of parent company BMW, with an impressive display of key models from the new 2011 range.
Husqvarna became part of the BMW Group in 2007, being acquired from MV Agusta. Since the acquisition Husqvarna motorcycles has benefited from substantial investment from the parent company, including new offices, a completely new R & D facility and new and improved production lines at the Cassinetta factory, located beside Lake Varese, Northern Italy. The amount of investment for these facilities alone is over 10 million euros.
Even with BMW’s influence, however, the brand remains true to the core values of Husqvarna. With the professionalism, expertise and support of the German giant, the aim is for continuous improvement on quality and reliability, with the technology to win.
The Husqvarna Motorcycle Live stand R424 Hall 3, will feature the dual purpose TE630 trail, an important addition to the 600cc single-cylinder four-stroke on/off-road sector. This new bike broadens the appeal of the range to attract those less competition-minded riders who use their bikes every day and need more comfort and practicality.
Another key model in the trail line-up is the WRE125 which has been endorsed by the media as “the ideal bike for those who want to begin off-roading”. The 2011 version has new graphics which reflects the racing-based models with a new red and black colour scheme. The white chassis and anodised black hubs give the bike a tough appearance. And it is tough, with a proven 125cc two-stroke engine which has been refined and brought bang up-to-date, improving power delivery at low to medium speeds for enhanced rideability.
For trail or road use this bike meets all your needs.
Husqvarna has always been the star of the supermoto world, with numerous successes in this sport. The design of the new SMR511 outstrips that of other supermoto models and stands out immediately for its looks and cutting-edge technology. Weighing in at just 118kgs the SMR511 makes the most of its powerful single cylinder, twin cam power unit to offer a truly exhilarating riding experience. For the street bike customer visiting Motorcycle Live this bike is the latest flagship supermoto to be developed by the multiple World Championship winning brand.
The 2011 version of the SMR630 supermoto has new bodywork, giving the bike a more streamlined and aggressive look, in red and black and black and white.
The most innovative feature of the new SMR630 is its 600cc engine with bore increased from 98mm to 100mm. The DOHC head, with a red painted cover, is inherited from the Husqvarna 450/510 competition bikes and this permits a 20% increase in power over the earlier 576cc version.
The Supermoto range also features the 50cc and 125cc models.
A first for the UK will be the launch at Motorcycle Live of the new CR65 Junior MX bike as well as a selection of the 2011 Street, MX and Enduro bikes. The CR65 is a true junior race bike with a liquid cooled 65cc two-stroke engine driving through a six-speed gearbox. With styling resembling the range topping TC449, the CR65 expands the Husqvarna MX range giving a natural progression path for those who start their racing career on the automatic CR50.
The CR50 will be on display and is a real dirt bike in miniature. The bike has a liquid cooled two-stroke 50cc engine, disc brakes, adjustable suspension and a steel chassis. This bike is the first step for the great new MX champion of tomorrow.
But the biggest additions to the range are the new TE449/511 and TC449 models and the TC449 will be on display during the show. Project leader, Fabrizio Baroni, said “the 449 series has been developed for the Pro rider as well as the beginner. The goal here is to set the benchmark for Design, Quality, Technology and Performance.”
All models have a new Brembo front brake system, Brembo hydraulic clutch and new Kayaba suspension.
The engine development has provided the TC449 with a specific MX power delivery compared to the Enduro models. Maximum power output is 8% higher as a result of revised cams and a higher compression ratio. The TC also differs from the Enduro version in having a 5-speed gearbox (6-speed on the TE449/511) and an ECU map switch as standard, providing softer power delivery for slippery conditions.
The CTS system (Coaxial Traction System) means control, with reduced rear load transfer, traction with no power losses on throttle action and a more uniform motion transfer to the rear wheel. The chassis design provides increased stability as a result of the wheel’s improved ability to follow ground contours.
The TE310 is completely revamped for 2011with its new, lightweight engine with increased torque and power. It has a new reinforced chassis, new Grimeca hubs, Kayaba 48mm front forks and Sachs shock absorber with new settings, 8.5 litre fuel tank, new hand guards and new bodywork graphics. There’s a new CDI with two map settings, selected from a switch on the handlebar and an overall lighter weight (106kg dry).
To complete the Husqvarna stand at Motorcycle Live will be a clothing display featuring the famous Husqvarna Racing Team brand and Vintage Riders collection.
