The Fight in the Forest for LiveStrong
If you would like to start getting fit for 2011 and support a good cause at the same time, why not enter one of a number of sporting challenges taking place on the Beaulieu Estate, in the heart of the New Forest National Park, on Sunday 3rd April.
The Fight in the Forest is a new event being organised in aid of the LiveStrong Foundation, the cancer awareness initiative begun by Lance Armstrong, winner of the Tour de France a record seven consecutive times. The event offers a series of challenges across a range of distances and disciplines to fit all experience and ability.
Two lengths of cycle ride are on offer, both starting and finishing in the picturesque surroundings of the Beaulieu Estate, best known as the home of the National Motor Museum. Riders can choose between a more sedate 25 mile loop or the full-on 50 mile route, both of which wind their way through some of the New Forest’s best know scenic spots, including the Ornamental Drive.
In addition to the bike rides, there are a number of other activities, from an elite level duathlon (5km run, 40km bike, 5km run) and two fun trail runs, 5km and 10km, which will be open to all.
The entry fee for the 25-mile cycle route is £20 and £25 for the 50-mile route, entry for the fun runs is £10. The entry fee for the Duathlon is £50 for BTF members and £55 for non-members. Entry fees include a donation to LiveStrong and you can register now at fightintheforest.com
