Be a savvy spender in 2011

12th January 2011 Print

We are now 12 days into 2011 which means that the average household in Britain has already spent close to £800. With belts tightened and a VAT price hike also in effect, cashback and voucher code site Quidco advises Brits of the savvy way to spend.

So far this year, the average household has spent £780. Of this, £294.53 has been spent on food, drink, clothes and entertainment. If these purchases had been made with cashback and voucher code deals, the average household would have saved £73.66 already.

Hannah Green at Quidco.com said, “Statistics suggest that households will have already spent nearly £300 on food, clothing and entertainment this year and if they’d used the voucher codes and cashback offers available to them they would have racked up almost £75 worth of savings. Considering that there are big high street sales and pressure to book a summer holiday in January, both figures are likely to be even higher. There are deals available for just about everything so there is no excuse for paying full price when household budgets are already so stretched.

“What’s more, if you’ve signed up to a dating site or a weight loss scheme this year, you may have missed out on as much as £50 cashback already as all of the leading sites offer savings via Quidco.com.”

Quidco.com is the easy way for people to save money on every purchase. It pays ‘cashback’ when people click through and make a purchase at any of the 2,798 retailers listed on its website, by paying the commission it gets from the retailer, directly into the shopper’s bank account. It also lists voucher codes, which give an instant online discount, and printable vouchers, which give a discount in-store.
