All aboard to explore Eastern Europe

As part of Cox & Kings' expanding European programme, six new train journeys launching in 2011, have been added to its website.

The Golden Eagle, owned by GW Travel, was launched in 2007 to operate the famous Trans-Siberian and Trans-Mongolian routes and from April 2011 it will begin travelling between Moscow and St Petersburg and through the Baltic States.

New: There will be a special 9 day Opera and Ballet Theatre departure travelling between Moscow and St Petersburg, which includes tickets to ballet or opera performances in the Bolshoi in Moscow, Mariinsky in St Petersburg and the National Theatre in Kiev, priced from £3,395 per person.

New: The 15 day Crimean Express travels from St Petersburg in the north of Russia through Belarus, Moldova to the Ukrainian city of Yalta, situated on the shores of the Black Sea and features numerous highlights in Moscow, Minsk and the Ukrainian cities of Lvov, Kiev, Odessa and Sevastopol. The journey is priced from £5,595 per person.

New: The 9 day Baikal Express, priced from £3,995 per person, passes through five time zones and 45 towns and cities across Russia, a journey of 4,500 kilometres. Beginning in Moscow and ending in Irkutsk, highlights of the journey include Kazan and the UNESCO-protected Kremlin, Novosibirsk and a barbeque on the beach at the world's largest freshwater lake, Lake Baikal.

New: The 7 day Baltic Adventure, priced from £2,695 per person, combines the three Baltic States, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia and Moscow and explores the countries' rich and colourful histories each with their own beautiful architecture. The surrounding countryside features lakes, forests and wetlands, dotted with manor houses, medieval castles and splendid rococo churches

New: The 21 day Silk Road Rail Tour, follows one of ancient civilisation's trading routes, starting in the Russian Federation and finishing in China, taking in the former USSR states. Highlights of the tour include some of the world's most iconic sights, including the Kremlin, Stalingrad, the Bibi Khanym Mosque, the Terracotta Army and the Great Wall. The trip is priced from £11,595 per person.

All trips include international flights, transfers and full board accommodation throughout.

Also new on the website for 2011, Cox & Kings has suggestions for combining Moscow with Volgograd or Kursk, and St Petersburg with Murmansk or Novgorod.
