Adventure holidays in Kansas

Kansas is tipped to be a hot destination for 2011. The state is perhaps best known for its connection to the ‘Wizard Of OZ,’ and with Andrew Lloyd Webber’s theatre production opening at the London Palladium in March, it is set to win hearts and minds for a second time.

Tony Daly, Managing Director of Ranch Rider, comments, “If our predictions are right, Kansas will go down a storm with adventurers, the show boosting interest in travel to the state. Danielle Hope, who will be playing Dorothy, has already achieved star status as winner of the BBC’s smash hit ‘Over The Rainbow,’ and cast alongside Michael Crawford, as the Wizard of Oz, the production is certain to be a roaring success.”

Kansas’ roots date back to the early pioneers, and still largely dependent on the cattle industry the state offers truly authentic western holidays.

Daly comments, “Kansas ticks all the right boxes when it comes to disconnecting from the digital world and reconnecting with nature. There’s also a refreshing sense of community wherever your adventures take you, and we’re sure that the familiar line “there’s no place like home,” will resonate with everyone from solo travellers to families.”

7-night stays with Ranch Rider start from £995pp (two sharing) including accommodation at the Moore Working Ranch, meals, most ranch activities, taxes and gratuities. Excludes transfers as car hire recommended from £239. Departures June through September. The ranch accepts children from 8 years and upwards. Return flight from £639pp (adults) and £556pp (under 12 years). Subject to availability.

Save (£224pp) 15% on the 3-night April Cattle drive (+ four-nights at the Moore Ranch), now only £1,215pp (two sharing) including, accommodation, meals, most ranch activities, gratuities, taxes and transfers. Price before discount £1,439 per person.

The tour operator’s holidays can also be combined with self-drives covering some of the more cosmopolitan locations, for example, Lawrence and Wichita, but according to Ranch Rider, breaking away from reality and enjoying life’s simple pleasures are the real highlights of any holiday in the state.

Ranch Rider will be appearing at Destinations London from 03-06 February (stand number NA2) and hosting a prize draw competition with a chance to win a four night ranch stay at the Flying W and 3-nights in Wichita City for two people (excluding flights). The runner up will receive tickets for the Wizard Of Oz theatre production in London, the third prize including a £50pp riding holiday voucher for two.
