CV show gets truck manufacturers’ support
Organisers of the 2011 Commercial Vehicle Show are delighted that bookings are coming in thick and fast and are particularly pleased to have firm bookings from DAF Trucks, MAN Truck and Bus UK, Mercedes-Benz UK and Hino. Iveco will also have a major presence under the banner of its West Midlands dealership, Guest Trucks.
“This is tremendous news,” said the Road Haulage Association’s Geoff Dunning. “The haulage industry has always been an accurate barometer for the economy and the decision to exhibit at this year’s Show is a positive development in difficult times.”
“MAN Truck and Bus UK is delighted to be back at the CV Show,” says CEO Des Evans, “and will be using the event to launch a number of new initiatives, one of which will focus on providing operators with an innovative total cost of ownership package utilising MAN’s unique EcoStyle Fleet Management System.
“With some three months to go before the doors open at the 2011 CV Show, we are really looking forward to engaging with our customers at the UK’s major road transport event.”
DAF Trucks’ MD, Ray Ashworth was equally enthusiastic. “We have already said that we can see signs of the long-awaited recovery in the UK truck market so it is wholly appropriate, given our central position in the business, that we commit ourselves to the CV Show now it is returning to the NEC. We’re looking forward to welcoming all of our customers at what is a core date in the truck industry’s calendar.”
Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicles’ MD, Ian Jones commented, “We plan to return to the 2011 Commercial Vehicle Show NEC with a full range of products and services. Our decision to attend is part of an ongoing commitment to meeting our customers and contacts around the country.”
And the final quote comes from another Show regular, Hino. Ken Grindrod, speaking on behalf of the UK Hino dealers said, “Most customers I have spoken to have greatly missed a manufacturer-supported CV Show. Hino’s presence at the 2011 Show is a statement of its commitment to the UK truck market.”
“To have the support of these heavy truck manufacturers is tremendously encouraging” said Geoff Dunning. “Despite the current strains being suffered by the economy, to have nearly 300 exhibitors on board is proof of the resilience and tenacity of the UK commercial vehicle market.”
