It seems location is still the key for many homebuyers after Redrow sold five homes in just two weeks in a sought-after Wiltshire village.

The housebuilder is celebrating after The Glades, in the quaint village of Downton, proved to be January’s new homes success story.

With generous layouts and plenty of outdoor space, the large four and five-bedroom properties available at The Glades have attracted buyers locally and from further afield.

Add to the equation the superb rural location and the fact that the homes are all specifically designed to be energy efficient and low maintenance, the new venture has evidently struck on a winning formula for families with 50% of homes now sold.

Formerly part of the Longford Estate, the new homes are well placed for an easy drive to Salisbury, in around seven minutes, as well as the towns and cities of Southampton, Bournemouth and Poole; yet offer close proximity to the New Forest National Park.

And for those who regularly travel to the capital, train journey times of under an hour and a half from Salisbury to London will be an added attraction.

Vanessa Randall-Short, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (South West), said: “A primary selling point for our homes at the Glades is the fantastic ‘country lane’ location, just a short drive from the edge of the tranquil New Forest. This really is a ‘chocolate box’ village setting with a real sense of community and it’s certainly been a popular choice for homebuyers so far this year.

“Our new homes offer families a prime location, plenty of outdoor space and lots of room to entertain family and friends or just relax.”

With its family-orientated layout and abundance of space, the large four-bedroom ‘Knightwood’ home at The Glades is a must-see property for those looking to move to this superb location.

The Knightwood features a large lounge to the rear of the house, with patio doors leading out onto the garden. There are also patio doors to the garden from the open-plan kitchen and dining room. This property has the added benefit of a family room / study on the ground floor, which gives families that extra space to spread out in. Other family-friendly features include a downstairs cloakroom and laundry. Upstairs there are four generous bedrooms, two with en-suite shower room, as well as a family bathroom.

A selection of luxury properties is available currently priced from £299,999 to £480,000, including the Knightwood from £415,000.
