Barratt provides boost for Hampshire's housing market

The housing market in Hampshire received a timely boost today when the region’s leading housebuilder said it would be opening three new sites this year alone.
Barratt in Hampshire plans to start work on three new developments comprising 942 new homes before the end of 2011. The developments have a total sales value of £124m and provide further evidence that the property market in Hampshire is likely to outperform some other parts of the country.
“Many househunters in the area think that now is a good time to buy because prices are lower than in 2007 and interest rates are rock bottom. We believe that this will help sustain the local housing market whatever happens to the national economy,” said Zak Long, senior sales manager at Barratt.
“We would not be making this significant commitment to the market in this area unless we were confident about its prospects in the medium-term.”
“By building these developments we will be bringing new jobs to Hampshire. We will also be creating well-designed, competitively-priced new homes which local people need.”
Homes currently available from Barratt in Hampshire include Hinkler Place in Southampton, Lakeside in Eastleigh, Meadowbrook in Four Marks and Highcroft in Winchester.
