Barratt opens seven new sites in Exeter
The housing market in the south west received a timely boost today when the region’s leading housebuilder said it would be opening seven new sites this year alone.
Barratt Exeter plans to start work on the seven new developments comprising 400 new homes before the end of 2011. The developments have a total sales value of £68 million and provide further evidence that the property market in the south west is likely to outperform some other parts of the country.
“Many househunters in the region think that now is a good time to buy because prices are lower than in 2007 and interest rates are rock bottom. We believe that this will help sustain the local housing market whatever happens to the national economy,” said Caroline Hill, sales director at Barratt.
“We would not be making this significant commitment to the market in this area unless we were confident about its prospects in the medium-term.
“By building these developments we will be bringing new jobs to the area. We will also be creating well-designed, competitively-priced new homes which local people need.”
Homes currently available from Barratt in Exeter include Old Cider Works in Taunton, Festival in Bridgwater, Wyndham Park in Yeovil and Cades Farm in Wellington.
