British sportscar maker, Caterham Cars, is set to further expand its international influence, after a record year of export sales in 2010.

The achievement of meeting the EU5 emissions standards means that Caterham has pan-European approval to sell a stunning range of cars that includes the Roadsport, Superlight R300, SV and CSR powered by Ford Sigma and Duratec engines.

A record year in 2010 represents a fifth consecutive year of continual growth in export markets by Caterham and its iconic Seven.

Sales in France particularly contributed to the Company’s performance overseas last year, with sales topping 130. There was further strong interest from other countries, including Germany, Italy and Japan.

Caterham’s International Business Development Manager, David Ridley, said: “Caterham is really bucking the trend at the moment – while most car builders are suffering because of the economic climate, we are going from strength to strength.

“We see no reason why our success in overseas markets will not continue unabated – the Seven is every bit as popular today as it always has been.”

Caterham’s expanding motorsport programme has also helped the Company’s European success.

The French R300 Cup started in 2010 and featured grids of 40 cars racing throughout the season. Meanwhile, Caterham’s acclaimed Academy series, for novice racers, is being rolled out in France this year.
