All 15 pupils at the brand new East Wichel Community Primary School are enjoying the spring air thanks to the donation of three wooden benches by housing developer Taylor Wimpey Oxfordshire.

Although the entire school could currently fit around two of the benches, the third one will definitely come in useful when the school, situated on Taylor Wimpey’s Wichelstowe development in Swindon, officially opens to the children living on the new estate in the next academic year.

Chris Ashmore, regional sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey Oxfordshire, said: “We like to support the community in which we build and with East Wichel being the main school for our Wichelstowe development it’s an absolute pleasure to give them something they’ll make great use of throughout the year.”

When the Wichelstowe development is finished the school will serve 420 primary pupils and 52 infants in its nursery.

Deputy head teacher at the school, Clare Davies, is pleased with the donations. She said: “The children are delighted with the new benches from Taylor Wimpey. They use them at playtime and lunchtimes but also during lessons when they are using the outdoor classroom. They are an invaluable addition to our resources.”

Taylor Wimpey is building a range of two, three and four bedroom homes at Wichelstowe. Currently available are two bedroom apartments starting at £142,500 and houses including the three bedroom semi detached Chester from £179,000 and the four bedroom Fairfield from £319,995.

Wichelstowe is a carefully planned and sustainable urban extension to the town of Swindon. The utmost attention has been paid to the design and layout of the area, with priority given to green open space. As a result residents at Wichelstowe will be able to enjoy community playing fields, and a 205 acre country park, as well as smaller green spaces designed into street scenes.
