Planners have given the go ahead for an exciting new development of homes in Calne.

Detailed planning permission was granted by Wiltshire Council for a joint venture by Redrow Homes and Robert Hitchins for 285 homes off Sand Pit Road and work on site can now begin.

Playing its part, Redrow will build 132 high quality new homes, including 92 homes for private sale from its New Heritage Collection, inspired by traditional Arts and Crafts properties.

Sales of the three, four and five-bedroom family homes plus some two-bedroom apartments are due to launch in April with many potential buyers already registering an interest.

Hannah Pollard, sales manager for Redrow Homes (South West), said: “The new development enjoys a fantastic location on the edge of Calne. Residents will benefit from the elevated position of the land, providing lovely views of the town and surrounding countryside.

“We are excited to be launching sales next month and look forward to welcoming home buyers to our new marketing suite, which will have detailed plans of the development and the individual homes on display. We will be building a wide selection of homes from our New Heritage Collection, which combines traditional Arts and Craft influenced exteriors with modern interiors, created for family life.

“The development will cater for everyone from first time buyers and downsizers looking for a more manageable home to growing families in search of more space.”

Examples of New Heritage homes are already being built by Redrow at Willowbrook in nearby Devizes and proving extremely popular.

As part of their plans in Calne, Redrow and Robert Hitchins will contribute more than £1 million in development contributions, including £250,000 towards local education provision, £100k to improve Anchor Road Community Park and up to £850k to carry out improvements to local highways and to support alternative travel initiatives for the new residents. New traffic calming measures will also be implemented on Oxford Road and provisions will be made for a new bus stop within the development if required. This is in addition to building 30% of the site for affordable housing.
