A top Chester chef is giving guests two chances to try a slice of cake fit for a prince at Carden Park throughout April.

As part of the Welsh National Culinary Team, Graham Tinsley, also executive head chef at the four-star Carden Park Hotel, Golf Resort and Spa, was commissioned by St James’s Palace to bake a cake to celebrate the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton on April 29.

Visitors enjoying ‘royal afternoon tea’ at the hotel throughout April can sample the same tasty recipe as the official cake, which will be donated with the couple’s blessing to the Centre Point Charity where William is patron.

Slices of a delicious cake baked with the same ‘secret ingredients’ will also be available to taste during a wedding open evening being held on April 14 to show case the resort’s exceptional wedding facilities and services.

Welsh team manager Graham said: “We were honoured that our offer to bake a celebratory cake for Prince William and Kate Middleton was accepted. It’s such a special occasion, many of our guests at Carden Park want to get involved and share in the experience, so I’m excited to be able to offer them the chance to try the recipe.”

With Prince William and his bride set to live in North Wales following the wedding, it’s fitting that the official cake will be traditionally Welsh, with beautiful depictions of harps, dragons and the national flag featuring in the decoration.

The royal afternoon tea offer is available during April and is £15 per person. It includes a glass of sparkling wine, finger sandwiches, pastries and of course the cake, all fit for a future King and Queen.

The hotel is also offering a 'royal stay’ package from £189 for two nights, including full English breakfast. Guests can watch the royal wedding at the hotel, situated within the grounds of the stunning 1,000 acre country estate, and to add to the magic there will be a children’s competition for best dressed Prince and Princess.

Or for those planning their own big day, the cake can be sampled at the wedding open evening on Thursday, April 14 between 5.30pm-8pm. Show rounds take place at 6.45pm and 7.30pm and visitors can take away the brand new wedding brochure, which has details of everything Carden Park can offer on your wedding day.
