You test drive a car, try on a new outfit and now there’s an invitation to live in an apartment before committing to buy it.

The Try Before You Buy scheme has been launched at Thamesfield, in Henley-on-Thames, and is open to anyone interested in buying a new home at the retirement village.

A specially dedicated apartment has been set up to provide a home from home for visitors who are able to stay overnight and enjoy the facilities, including the restaurant. There is the opportunity to join in any of the village activities and meet the neighbours over morning coffee or afternoon tea.

The scheme has already proved popular at other villages within the Retirement Villages portfolio. Some guests have been so taken with the lifestyle and properties that they have reserved their new home during their complimentary stay.

“Some people find it difficult to imagine themselves living in a retirement village,” said the company’s Sales and Marketing Director Sarah Burgess. “Owning your own home while having exclusive access to such extensive communal facilities isn’t the kind of lifestyle many people will have experienced before. I always describe the Try Before You Buy scheme as giving people the chance to ‘see and feel’ how it could work for them.”

Thamesfield is an established community on the banks of the river offering close care living in luxury one and two bedroom apartments. There is also a 10 bed nursing home for residents requiring round the clock care.

Properties at the village are priced from £310,000. For more information or to arrange to take part in the Try Before You Buy scheme, visit: retirementvillages.co.uk
