If you’re a parent who loves their children dearly but feels it’s time for them to fly the family nest, then you’ll be pleased to know that you can help them in what could be their biggest step towards independence, by paying a visit Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties Austen Court development in Hilsea.

Here the house builder has a wide selection of homes ideal for first time buyers and a raft of initiatives*, including the Easystart shared equity scheme and ‘Family and Friends Advantage’, designed to help parents who can contribute towards a deposit get their children onto the property ladder.

Under the Easystart scheme, first time buyers can purchase a Taylor Wimpey home for as little as 85% of the price now. Simply pay a 5% deposit on exchange of contracts, and 80% of the price via your prearranged mortgage on completion. Taylor Wimpey will then loan you the remaining 15%, with no rent or interest to pay for up to 10 years.

Family and Friends Advantage invites family and friends to help purchasers with the cash deposit they need to buy a new home and in return Taylor Wimpey will pay them a guaranteed return of 5% per annum for five years on the sum invested.

Sarah Pasco, regional sales director for Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties, said: “We understand that parents want to help their children get onto the property ladder but for many simply acting as the bank of mum and dad is no longer an option. Both schemes are really straightforward; Easystart is ideal if you’re struggling to save for a large deposit as you only need 5%, whilst Family and Friends Advantage provides a generous short-term return for those providing the deposit, as well as the possibility of both parties benefitting should house prices rise over the longer term.”

Family and Friends Advantage is available on deposits of up to 20% of the purchase price. A £30,000 deposit on a £150,000 property, for example, would see a guaranteed return of £1,500 every year for five years. Contributions towards the deposit can be made by more than one person and the rebate is paid directly into one nominated bank account on an annual basis.

Located on the north end of Portsea Island, Austen Court benefits from its close proximity to Portsmouth city centre which offers an array of shops, restaurants and night life. For commuters, Hilsea railway station is on the Portsmouth direct line from London Waterloo and the M27 is nearby. There’s currently a range of one bedroom apartments available priced from just £97,746 (Easystart price).
