Taylor Wimpey is set to officially unveil a stunning sculpture at its Kingshill Grange development of new homes in High Wycombe.

The artist behind a spectacular new sculpture at a Taylor Wimpey development of property for sale in High Wycombe says he hopes people will take pleasure from his work.

Renowned sculptor Peter Randall-Page has spoken of the inspiration behind his stunning work of art, which has now been installed at the leading housebuilder’s Kingshill Grange development of apartments and houses for sale in High Wycombe.

The sculpture began its life as a six-tonne granite boulder imported from Finland, before being intricately carved with a continuous ridge that covers its entire surface.

Entitled ‘Grove’, the artwork has been placed within a circle of pleached trees in an area of public open space at the main entrance of Kingshill Grange, for the enjoyment of residents of the development of High Wycombe property and the wider community.

“This sculpture has been many months in the creation and I’m really pleased that it’s finally in place, and I hope that people will enjoy the sculpture when they see it,” says Peter.

“It was important for me to get the scale and the proportion of the piece right because it is situated within quite a large area of public open space, where even a very big stone sculpture is in danger of getting lost.

“It is for this reason that the sculpture has been located within a formal circle of trees, like a stylised grove, which will create a canopy to cast a deep shadow and illuminate the sculpture with a pool of light at its centre. I’m delighted with how it looks.”

Peter’s says his work, like many of his other sculptures, is inspired by both the order and chaos of the natural world.

“Nature has a tendency to form patterns mitigated by random variation. It is this relationship – and how it affects our subjective emotions – that is at the heart of the work.

“With ‘Grove’ there is tension between the random boulder, shaped by glacial erosion over millions of years, and the formal pattern of the continuous ridge on its surface. It is intended as a meditative object which can’t be translated into verbal meaning.”

For further information on the properties available at Kingshill Grange, where prices start from £174,995, please visit the development off Kingshill Road, open seven days a week between 10.30am and 5.30pm.
