Motorbike racer wins experience of a lifetime with Motorpoint

An aspiring motorbike racer from Worcestershire, Melissa Bond, has won the experience of a lifetime with Motorpoint to be a grid girl for the day at Thruxton racecourse.
In the past Melissa, 23, has ridden pillion with World Superbike Champion James Toseland when at a track day with him. The speedster will be in the thick of the action as a grid girl when the British Superbike team takes to track. Melissa has been racing bikes since the age of 16 and is saving up to enter into competitive racing herself but until that moment she wants to be as close to the action as possible.
Melissa’s racing dream has had to be put on hold for the moment as she searches for employment but she is determined to reach her goal by next year. In the meantime she is always looking for ways to learn more about the sport that she loves.
The keen biker saw the competition to be a grid girl for the Motorpoint team through their Facebook page and applied immediately. The car supermarket giant launched the competition to be a pit helper or a grid girl through their Facebook page – facebook.com/motorpoint - in January and have been inundated with applications ever since.
Says Melissa: “I love bike racing and one day I hope to emulate my heros such as James Toseland. What he can do on a bike is amazing. I once rode pillion with him around the Cadwell Park track after I had spent the day track racing with him – It was one of the best experiences of my life. I have only been a grid girl once before a number of years ago. I loved the chance to be closer to the action and be a part of the thrilling atmosphere that Superbike racing generates. I couldn’t believe that I was given the chance to do this it was so out of the blue.”
