Special discounts for armed forces in Wiltshire

13th June 2011 Print

David Wilson Homes is marking Armed Forces Day on Saturday June 25 with a special event at its Beaufort Park development in Wootton Bassett.

The event will run from noon until 4pm with refreshments and family fun with experts on hand to help military servicemen and women learn about the special incentives from David Wilson Homes which are designed to help them get their feet on the property ladder.

Personnel employed by the navy, army or RAF as well as anyone who served in the wars in Afghanistan or Iraq all qualify for the Armed Forces Discount Scheme. Anyone set to retire from the forces this year will be eligible until the end of 2011.

They will be offered a £1,000 discount for every £25,000 or part thereof on the cost of the property they are buying. For example, on a home costing £126,000 they would qualify for a reduction of £6,000.

“This country rightly celebrates the achievements of its Armed Forces which many regard as the best in the world,” said Russell Glimstead, sales director of David Wilson Homes.

“We have an established track record of helping people into home ownership and this offer should enable servicemen and women finally to own the roof over their heads and save thousands of pounds.

“Now is a good time to buy because prices and mortgage rates are significantly lower than they were. We are offering some superb deals which won’t be on the table much longer as our stock levels have reduced significantly,’’ said Russell.

“What gives us the edge over other people selling homes is that we can provide customers with innovative financial incentives which enable them to get a mortgage – the key issue for anyone buying today.”

Homes qualifying for the Armed Forces Discount Scheme from David Wilson Homes at Beaufort Park include two, three and four bedroom homes.

“The beautiful homes on offer here, combined with a wonderful location in the picturesque town of Wootton Bassett, are proving extremely popular among buyers looking to settle in the region,” said Russell.

Current availability at Beaufort Park includes the two bedroom Newbury apartment from £117,500, the three bedroom Queensville from £209,950 and the three bedroom Hadley special and Wootton which are both priced at £214,955. There is also the four bedroom Harrington from £234,950.

Many of the homes are built using traditional stonework in an attractive courtyard setting overlooking a leafy avenue.

Set within picturesque Wootton Bassett, Beaufort Park is close to a wealth of schools, shops, pubs and other local amenities. The town is close to many rural villages and to Jubilee Lake – an area surrounded by woodland and popular with walkers, dog owners and anglers.

Commuters will find junction 16 of the M4 just two miles away with easy access to the nearby railway town of Swindon. The thriving cities of Bath and Bristol are also a short drive away with Reading easily accessible for commuters.
