Homebuyers Pete and June Flecknell are impressed with the modern open-plan layout of their brand new home at Taylor Wimpey’s Willow Lake development of property for sale in Milton Keynes.

When Pete and June Flecknell made the decision to downsize from their old property to a new property in Milton Keynes, top of their agenda was finding somewhere that offered the ideal combination of comfort and practicality.

One look at the stunning ‘Radford’ housetype at Taylor Wimpey’s Willow Lake development of houses for sale in Newton Longville, Milton Keynes, and the couple knew they had discovered the ideal home in which to enjoy a long and happy retirement together.

This spacious four-bedroom Milton Keynes property boasts an appealing contemporary layout featuring a light and airy kitchen, dining room and lounge combining to create a wonderful open-plan living space.

And because it’s brand new and protected by warranties from both Taylor Wimpey and the National House-Building Council (NHBC), proud owners Pete and June know they won’t have to worry about costly maintenance in the years ahead.

“As soon as we saw the ‘Radford’ at Willow Lake, we knew it was just what we wanted,” says retired builder Pete (61) reflecting on his first visit to the development of houses to buy in Milton Keynes.

“When we decided to downsize and started looking around for a new place, we were keen to find a home that made our lives as easy as possible for our retirement.
“The open-plan layout of our new house is perfect for us because our kitchen, dining and living rooms are all in the same space, which is so convenient.

“The development is in a great location, too – it’s very quiet and despite the fact that we’re still quite close to the centre of Milton Keynes, it feels like we’re living in the countryside!”

Pete and June (68), who works as an area manager for JHP Training, reserved their new home at Willow Lake in August 2010 after selling their previous property – but problems occurred when two successive buyers went back on their agreement to purchase the Flecknells’ old home.

Fortunately, Taylor Wimpey’s experienced Sales Executives provided all the reassurance they needed, and worked hard to ensure that their move to the development proceeded as smoothly as possible.

Now the couple are busy settling into their brand new property after moving in at the beginning of June, and are looking forward to visits from their three daughters and their seven grandchildren.

Pete adds: “Taylor Wimpey were brilliant to us from beginning to end. We had one or two problems with selling our old place, but the girls in the sales office were happy to keep our new home for us despite the delays, even though there were plenty of other people interested in buying it.

“In this day and age, it’s nice to know there are still people who will try to help you, and we’re really grateful for everything they did for us.”

Home-hunters interested in following in the Flecknells’ footsteps can choose from a superb selection of properties currently available for sale at Willow Lake, including three-bedroom homes from just £185,000, four-bedroom houses from only £230,000, five-bedroom properties from £330,000 and six-bedroom detached homes from £385,000.

All new homes at Willow Lake are being built to a standard that provides significant energy efficiency savings compared with typical new-build homes of just a few years ago, and each new property includes a fitted kitchen with integral oven, hob and hood.

Every new property at the development is also protected by a two-year guarantee from Taylor Wimpey as well as a 10-year warranty from the NHBC.

Overlooking the picturesque Jubilee Lake on the southern edge of Milton Keynes, Willow Lake will feature a range of facilities on the doorstep including a primary school, a recreational park, a hotel and leisure amenities.

A supermarket, nurseries and schools, and a choice of pubs and restaurants can be found just a short distance away.

For commuters, the A5 and the M1 are just a few minutes’ drive from the development, while those travelling further afield will appreciate that Luton Airport is only 25 miles away. Services from Bletchley railway station to Euston put central London just over an hour away by train.

The Willow Lake Sales Centre is located at Skye Crescent, Newton Leys, off Drayton Road, Newton Longville (Sat Nav postcode MK17 0EE), and open 10am to 5pm, Tuesday to Sunday, and 1.30pm to 5pm on Mondays. Alternatively, visit taylorwimpey.co.uk.
