Heart of Gold Rapeseed Oil celebrates National Cupcake Week

Heart of Gold is a 100% natural, pure, rapeseed oil grown, produced and bottled by farmer Nick Bradley on his family farm overlooking the picturesque Vale of Belvoir in Lincolnshire. It is a completely traceable and sustainable British product, high in flavour and health benefits, but low on food miles.

It was an interest in cooking and healthy eating that initially fuelled Nick to explore the possibility of converting some of his rape crop into a product that would be both nutritious and delicious. What originally began as a small-scale experiment for personal use quickly burgeoned into something much bigger.

Nick was sure that the rapeseed, when cold pressed on his own farm, would produce oil that was a viable alternative to olive oil. He explains: "I loved the idea of a homegrown, locally produced oil, which would be high in flavoursome goodness but low on food miles."

Rapeseed oil has been proved to contain only half the saturated fat of olive oil and is packed with Vitamin E (a natural antioxidant) and Omegas 3, 6 & 9. In addition, it's free from preservatives, trans-fats and artificial colourings - all of which make it an excellent choice for lowering cholesterol and promoting a healthy heart.

To celebrate National Cupcake Week (12 - 18 September 2011), Heart of Gold Rapeseed Oil has once again joined forces with fellow Lincolnshire producer, Enchanting Cakes enchanting-cakes.com

Enchanting Cakes' founder, Kate Elizabeth, makes all her cakes herself, using only the finest, locally-sourced ingredients and to celebrate this year's National Cupcake Week she has devised a delicious toffee fudge cupcake recipe using Heart of Gold Rapeseed Oil.

According to Kate Elizabeth: "This recipe is incredibly simple to make - even the novice baker wouldn't be phased by it - and the cupcakes are really scrummy, whether iced or left simple."

Heart of Gold's Nick Bradley adds: "We are delighted to be working with Enchanting Cakes again and to be harnessing the skills of another local company, particularly one that appreciates the benefits of using local produce and keeping food miles to a minimum. This year's cupcake recipe is absolutely mouthwatering!"
