Part exchange helps couple get moving
A Wiltshire couple have been able to move into a brand new home as a direct result of Persimmon Homes’ Part Exchange deal.
Matt Smith, aged 32, and partner Dawn Carvey, 28, who owned a one bedroom corner terrace in Chippenham, began looking at new developments which offered Part Exchange, and found an ideal three bedroom semi-detached property at the Persimmon Homes development at Quaker’s Walk in Devizes.
Matt says: “We had a deposit and were geared up to move but without buyers for our existing home, we didn’t think we’d be able to do so imminently so Persimmon’s Part Exchange proved to be the best way of doing it for us.
“We got a good price for our old home and we knew our buyer – effectively Persimmon - wasn’t going to pull out. It was a smooth process and it removed a lot of the stress of moving.”
The couple bought a Patney three bedroom home with a lounge, kitchen / dining room and cloakroom to the ground floor, and a bedroom with en-suite, two further bedrooms and a family bathroom to the first floor. They were attracted by both the quality design of their home and its stunning location.
As Matt explains: “It has all the benefits of a brand new house and has a kitchen/diner which we really wanted, with French doors opening out on to the garden. It also has a garage which is great for my bikes and kayaks.
“I love mountain biking and it’s five minutes from here up into the hills, and 40 metres from our door you’re onto a bridleway. Plus, it’s also under a ten minute walk into town along a tree lined route which is largely traffic free, and from there you can get onto the towpath of the Kennet and Avon Canal.
“We fell in love with the house because the location is fantastic. We’re right on the edge of the development overlooking fields and trees and Devizes is a really great town with lots going on and lots of little independent shops.”
The thriving town also has excellent road and rail links for commuters. Both Matt and Dawn work in Bath for the NHS, Matt as an IT specialist and Dawn as a biomedical scientist. There is also easy motorway access via the M4 leading to major cities such as London, Bristol, Swindon and Oxford.
Quaker's Walk offers a mix of three and four bedroom terraced, semi and detached homes, and there is also a school planned for the development, due to be finished in February, making it ideal for families.
Homes are selling well, including half a dozen completions in the last couple of months alone thanks to the Persimmon Homes Part Exchange scheme available. They guarantee no hidden marketing costs, no costly estate agent’s fees and no upsetting chains to break down. Buyers also have the added bonus of being able to stay in their existing home until their new one is completed.
Pauline Fletcher, sales director for Persimmon Homes Wessex, says: “Part exchange saves you the hassle of having to market and sell your home and makes moving into your dream home an achievable reality.”
One of the designs currently available at Quaker’s Walk is the Fittleton four bedroom detached home in a quiet cul-de-sac, which is ready to move into. With Part Exchange, buyers could be in by September. Four and five bedroom homes are available from £259,995.
The Calne, Newton and Burbage are a few of the housetypes available at this site.
