Hendy Ford is set to mark Ford’s centenary with a heritage day at its Eastleigh showroom showcasing some of the greatest cars from the manufacturer.

The dealership will be throwing open its doors on Friday September 16 for everyone to take a walk down memory lane with cars from all eras of Ford and videos chronicling the history of Ford in the UK.

The display is part of a month long campaign of events at dealerships to mark 100 years of Ford in Britain – a tour which will culminate at the Goodwood Revival Meeting where Ford will display 100 cars for 100 years.

The celebrations come a year after the Hendy Group celebrated its own centenary of being a Ford dealer and managing director Paul Hendy said that it was another good opportunity to celebrate the rich heritage of the Ford range.

“The heritage show we are hosting shows the amazing progress which has been made in the last 100 years in terms of how the cars look, the technology under the bonnet and features which have become standard in the cars,’’ said Paul.

“We are delighted to have been chosen to host the heritage day and will be open from 11am to 7pm.’’

Cars on display are set to include a 1953 Prefect E493A and 1973 Ford Cortina and several models from the Hendy Group’s own collection including a Model T Ford, Focus WRC and Lotus Cortina.

In addition to the heritage vehicles on display visitors to the Leigh Road dealership will also be able to sample some of the very latest cars from Ford – including the Ford Focus which features award-winning technology such as lane keeping aids, collision mitigation, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition and active park assist.

“Technology forms a large part of Ford’s strategy to put distance between it and more value-driven brands, with the result that its new Focus has optional equipment more typically seen in the premium segment,’’ said Paul.

The heritage day runs from 11am to 7pm on Friday September 16.
