Despite all the doom and gloom about the economy, specialist operator Bamboo Travel warns that anyone intending on booking a festive escape to Southeast Asia needs to act quickly or run the risk of missing out.

Comments Robin Ball, Director of Bamboo Travel: “As we saw with the royal wedding in April, the way the calendar sits in December provides the chance for people to enjoy a 12-day holiday using up just 4 days of precious leave.

“We are genuinely struggling to provide Christmas itineraries to some parts of Southeast Asia – in particular, our popular Mekong and Burma cruises are completely sold out; we have even started to take bookings for Christmas next year.”

One option that Bamboo Travel still has is the new 12-day Escape to Laos itinerary. December is one of the best months to visit with clear skies and good temperatures. The peaceful and tranquil atmosphere makes it a perfect place in which to enjoy the festive period and the new Vietnam Airlines service has cut the journey time considerably.

The soft adventure tour is based on medium grade hotels (3 star equivalent), and is aimed at working people looking to escape the stress of winter.

Highlights include 3 nights in Luang Prabang, an exploration of the northern provinces by boat, a 2 night stay at Nong Khiaw, kayaking on the Nam Song River at Vang Vieng and a stay in the capital of Vientiane (click here for full itinerary).

The price of the holiday, departing Friday 23rd December (returning on 3 January), is £2,195 per person (2 sharing) which includes international flights, 9-nights’ B&B (plus one lunch), road transfers, private tours and private English-speaking guide/drivers.
