Malmesbury-based Persimmon Homes Wessex has acquired more than three acres of land for development at Great Western Park in Didcot.

Planners from South Oxfordshire District Council have granted reserved matters planning permission for Persimmon to build a total of 50, two, three, four and five bedroom homes on the site which has a gross development value of £11.4m.

Work is scheduled to start in December and will help meet the ongoing housing need for the next 18 months. First completions are scheduled for summer 2012. Prices are yet to be announced.

Peter Taylor, land director at Persimmon Homes Wessex, said: “There remains a great demand for new build homes in the region and the Great Western Park acquisition is one of a number of sites we hope to bring forward in the near future.

“This investment is great news for the local community - we can’t wait to welcome visitors to the development to show them how our plans will transform the land into an aspirational, sought after place to live.”
