Buying your new home off plan has many benefits, such as having the pick of the plots and being able to choose all of your fixtures and fittings. But for one couple at Taylor Wimpey’s Great Western Park development in Didcot, it also meant having a hand in actually building their new home.

As soon as Nick and Farrah Webb first heard about the plans for Great Western Park they knew it was somewhere they would like to live. Nick explains: “We were already living in Didcot and wanted to move house but decided to wait until the new development was launched, as we really liked the area and had heard lots of positive things about the plans for the site.”

As soon as they were shown the floor plans for the four bedroom Kempsford house they were sold and wasted no time in reserving their choice of plot – even though they only had the development plans to base their decision on. Their new home won’t be ready until February 2012 but this gave Nick an idea. “We have already fallen in love with our new home and I thought it would be a nice touch if I could arrange for my wife Farrah to lay one of the first bricks as a surprise,” explains Nick.

“Taylor Wimpey were happy to help and arranged it all for us, they even organised a special commemorative brick engraved with the year. Farrah was thrilled when we arrived on site and I explained what we were going to do. It’s made the whole experience of buying our dream home here even more special and we can’t wait to move in.”

“Even though our home isn’t built yet it was clear from the floor plans that this was the home for us. It’s detached and gives us lots more room than our old house. It even has a conservatory and offers lovely views over surrounding countryside which is fantastic. Buying off plan has meant that we got to pick one of the best plots, we can choose our kitchen and bathroom and we get to see our home being built which is very exciting.”

With Taylor Wimpey’s expert team in place, Nick and Farrah’s home buying process has been smooth and stress free.

“The whole team at Great Western Park have been fantastic” adds Nick. “We’ve had plenty of questions but the sales executives have been very helpful, keeping us up to date with everything. We’re also using Taylor Wimpey’s moving service so when the time comes to move in we know it will be as stress free as possible.”

Darren McCormack, regional sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey Oxfordshire adds: “It’s fantastic that Nick and Farrah have found their dream home at Great Western Park and that we were able to make their move even more special by allowing them to lay a brick in their new home. It was a lovely idea of Nick’s and I’m glad everyone managed to keep it a secret and not spoil the surprise!

“As Nick highlights, buying off plan has many benefits so it’s definitely worth considering. Why not pay us a visit to find out more?”

Great Western Park is currently selling a collection of one, two, four and five bedroom properties from just £156,000.
